FAQ:

What are the specific settings for the Nikon F camera type?
Works best with Nikon F bodies that feature Live View, but can also be used using the eye-viewfinder. Most Nikon cameras will allow you to shoot automatically without a lens mount setting. I recommend shooting in Manual for the best results.

Does this function like a 'normal' lens?
Yes and no. While it mounts like any regular lens, it features a fixed focus and a fixed aperture. To focus your image, you’ll need to move the entire camera, and for exposure settings, switch your camera to Manual mode to control your ISO and shutter speeds. Focusing distance for this lens is roughly 2 inches! The lens is similar to a 50mm focal length on a body, with a close-up ratio of 1:1. Fun, and easy to use!

How should I set my Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO?
It’s recommended to set your camera to Manual mode and adjust the shutter speed for optimal exposure. The lens has a fixed aperture of approximately f/10, so you won’t need to adjust the aperture. For the best results, disable AUTO ISO to prevent excessive noise in your photos. Typically a lot of light is required when using this lens, so either a controlled lighting situation or bright sunlight works best for the ideal exposure. A higher ISO setting (3200 or so) is usually required unless light is ample. A tripod set-up using a focusing rail works best, but not always required. In good natural light, aim for a shutter speed of 1/30th of a second or faster.

Any cleaning or maintenance tips?
It is recommended that you treat your new Recapture lens the same as you would any other camera lens. Since there is no filter or lens cap for the front opening, it may be more susceptible to dirt or dust. To clean, just use a rocket blower to remove dust or dirt and wipe with a wetted q-tip using rubbing isopropyl alcohol and wipe in a circular motion. Let air dry or wipe with dry end of q-tip.

Notes:

  1. For Mirrorless Cameras: Since this lens has no shutter, use caution leaving your camera face-up in direct sunlight. Although this has not been field tested, damage to your camera sensor may result.
  2. This is the lens only. There are no lens caps. Camera is sold separately.
